Cayton Ranger Station Foundation was created to preserve a unique and important landmark - the Cayton Ranger Station - for the education and enjoyment of the public.
Our vision is to share with you the special experience of visiting, in its natural setting, one of the oldest ranger stations in the United States. After renovation, the cabin will be open and available for you to see and touch the implements with which Ranger Cayton and his wife Birdie made their life together on the National Forest. You might feel the heat from the stove that kept them warm, and you will have the opportunity to read and hear about their lives in service to the land and the community.
Our hope is that you will leave this place enriched, educated, and a bit excited—having touched your heritage in this unique way.
